Behind ANIMO
I’m Abel Carbajal, a stop-motion animator and filmmaker passionate about helping others grow in this craft.I’ve been working in stop motion for over seven years — including five at LAIKA Studios.
My path in animation was shaped by generous mentors who guided me early on — people to whom I’ll always be grateful.For several years, I’ve also had the chance to mentor aspiring animators, including interns at LAIKA.
Having started there as an intern myself, it’s been deeply rewarding to help others develop their skills — and to see some of them join the studio to work on Wildwood.With Animo, I wanted to bring that same studio-style mentorship to every aspiring animator who wants to learn directly from professionals making films today.
It’s my way of giving back to the community that shaped me.
